Class stack
kingo-pod
Everything the class uses โ Langflow, n8n, JupyterLab, JupyterHub, Metabase, CloudBeaver, Qdrant and a PostgreSQL database โ runs in containers on your own laptop. Nothing is shared, nothing is in the cloud, and one command sets it all up.
Set it up
Pick your laptop. Do this at home, before class โ the first run downloads about 10 GB, and on Windows it needs one restart. Plan about an hour, most of it unattended.
Mac setup
Apple Silicon, over the internet. One command installs and starts the whole class stack.
Windows setup
Windows 10/11 via WSL2. Turn WSL2 on once, then one command does the rest.
Mac setup from the USB stick
Same result as the Mac guide, but the ~14 GB of images come off the instructor's stick.
Windows setup from the USB stick
Same result as the Windows guide, but the ~14 GB of images come off the instructor's stick.
The USB guides are for the stick handed round in class: same result, but the images come off the stick instead of the Wi-Fi. On Windows, WSL2 still has to be switched on at home first.
Use it
Setup happens once; these are the pages to keep for the rest of the term: addresses and logins, the everyday commands, your own files, updating, and what to do when something breaks.
Using the stack on a Mac
Your addresses and logins, the everyday commands, your own files, updating, and fixing things.
Using the stack on Windows
Your addresses and logins, the everyday commands, your own files, updating, and fixing things.
Using CloudBeaver
How to log in to the browser SQL workbench and open the class database.
